Happy Friday friends! This week felt really long. Might be in part because I two days I went to the city or maybe because it was dreary and rainy all week. Any rate, I'm happy Friday has arrived! I don't have any major plans for the week-end; a little relaxing, perhaps a hike, and of course playing on my new macbook! Then we have a fundraiser dinner to attend at the private school I attended for almost all my elementary school and some high school years.
Do you like fundraising dinners? I don't they feel so stuffy. We went last year and this year I was going to try to get out of it and got caught without a (good) excuse. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind helping non-profit organizations out but I don't need to hear the whole brag fest song and dance....we're better than all other schools dribble. Than you've got the people who attended or kids that currently attend come up and talk about how this school has changed their lives and is so amazing. I went there, I don't know that it really helped me fulfil my life destiny that much! But I also have served at these fundraiser dinners oh let's say 15 years ago (gulp am I really that old already?) I know the stories they tell the kids about how they really need people to donate lots of money so we can stay privileged enough to attend this great school. But I digress. Tomorrow we'll dress nice, bring our wallet, and bid on a bunch of stuff at the auction. Because maybe that school does help mold and shape some kids to who they are meant to be later in life. And I did have some good times there. But that's the end of that rant!
The rest of the week-end should be pretty great. I'm hoping the weather is nice and sunny then we can spend most the time outdoors and perhaps get some of the yard work done! I'm going to be on the look-out for some cool blue photographs!!
What are your plans for the week-end? Are you going to take it easy? Or are your week-ends so busy you need another one to recover?
I am so glad the sun is finally out in Ut! Time to soak up some fun!!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend turned out great!!

Visiting from FTLOB
Hi there! Stopping by from Comment Love. I used to work at a private school and our fundraisers sound similar by the structure of them. I always felt out of place at those things because I worked there, so I didn't really have the money to bid on any of the items :)
ReplyDeleteBut those evenings were essential to keep the school running (it was for children with language and learning differences...a really great place!)
We had a great weekend over here. Nothing like beautiful weather and spending some time with mom today :) Stopped over from Comment Love Day, and I hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet weekend here in Ireland...a little snoozing and grocery shopping!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joni! It's always the making for a great week-end when the sun shows up!!
ReplyDeleteYes, totally! This school would have shut down 15-20 years ago if it wasn't for the great donors! I just often feel out of place at them! Guess I feel closer to the students age than the donors!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great Sunday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I'm glad it's getting closer to summer and warmer weather!
