When you first get married one thing you'll hear mentioned is the honeymoon stage. There is different theories for how long after you say I do that you'll experience this rose glasses bliss.
We're coming up on our six year wedding anniversary next month; and I think it's safe to say the honeymoon period is over. Our individual cute idiosyncrasies are not quite as endearing as they perhaps once were.
Don't get me wrong I'm still spoiled and very well taken care of by him. One little sniffle or cough and I'm force fed vitamins and chicken noodle soup! But my ridiculous germ-a-phobe/hypochondriac tendencies are no longer met with the same empathy as they did when we were first married.
I've been banned from looking at WebMD while he's at work; it's not as fun to convince me over the phone that I'm not dying from seven deadly rare diseases. Instead I'm now hearing things like "baby, you haven't gotten rabies from the cat breathing on you before now. I don't think that crazed look in his eye is him plotting to rabify you" or "no I don't think your finger looks broken; it's just double jointed" "One foot hasn't suddenly grown a lot bigger than the other" And even though I can see his eyes rolling and the laugh being held back I know there is love behind that smirk. For it is our unique idiosyncrasies that we love each other for.

Chocolate Heart Cookies
Every year I like to make the same cookies for Valentines Day. I don't usually make them at any other time through out the year but only for V-Day. I wrote a post about them last year but I thought this year I'd share the recipe! I don't know what their official name is but growing up we always cut them into heart shapes so we called them Chocolate Heart Cookies. They taste so good! Almost like the brownie version of cookies!
Chocolate Heart Cookies
-1/2 cup margarine
-1 cup white sugar
-2 eggs
-sprinkle of salt
-pinch of cinnamon
-2 cups flour
-1/2 cup cocoa
-1 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp baking soda
Cream softened margarine with sugar. Stir in 2 eggs. Combine all the dry ingredients and slowly mix in. Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll to 1/4" thickness. Bake until cooked (for approx 8 mins) at 325.
I like to ice them with chocolate buttercream icing and add a few cinnamon candies! Let me know if you make them!
