Fill In The Blank Friday
Head over here to play along too!
1. My favorite place i've ever traveled to is pretty much anywhere! I haven't really done a whole lot of travelling. I've moved a lot but haven't travelled a lot. Kananaskis was a beautiful area though.
2. Europe is somewhere I'd love to go someday.
3. I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by watching tv/a movie, reading a book, writing, sleeping.
4. My three must-haves when I travel are my cell (with games and shows), a book/magazines, snacks/water.
5. My favorite travel companion is my husband. He makes it less stressful and fun.
6. The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is from a trip home from college, for Christmas. I was flying from Saskatchewan to British Columbia and over the mountains in Alberta we hit a really bad turbulence spot. The plane literally dropped. And it felt like it was being tossed around in the air. People were screaming and flying around in the aisles. A few people got their heads and limbs banged and bruised. There was crying and freaking out. It was pretty scary. Felt like the longest 10 minutes but we eventually got out of the rough spot and everyone calmed down. The way back to school wasn't much better. There was lots of delays and we had to run from one end of the airport to the other as they called us on the intercom system. We almost missed our flight but barely made it. Our luggage wasn't so lucky!
7. The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is nothing! I've never travelled anywhere exotic! And I'm not very brave at all!
8. If I could live anywhere else, I'd live anywhere! New Zealand, Australia, Europe, somewhere gorgeous!
9. I have been to six? states in the U.S. It was a road trip so I didn't get to site see in them. So I hardly count it!

Etsy Love List- Guy Version
*As always, the photos are from the shops. Click on the picture or the link below to head to their shop!

Jon has had the same wallet for as long as I can remember, before I met him. It was starting to look pretty sad. So I was excited when I discovered Gifts For Him. When the wallet arrived I loved how well it was made! And he was pretty excited about it too. I love those gifts where they would never think to ask for it but it's a perfect gift idea for them!

When I saw this listing for a personalized wallet insert I knew it was the perfect addition to his wallet gift! The owner of Stamped with Love did an excellent job stamping my message to Jon. I stuck it in one of the last slots in the wallet and it was an awesome surprise for him.

It's no secret in our house that Jon loves bacon. So when I saw this shirt I knew it'd be one of his favorites! The shop foul tshirts also has a "beer?" shirt that I'm going to get for him sometime.

But the present he's been asking for and hinting at forever was a beard toque. The mustache looks a little off in the photo but right after I snapped it he untwisted it. He was beyond thrilled when he opened it as you can probably tell from the photo. I got it from a shop called Gramma's Gifts.
Hopefully that gave you guys some ideas! I'm still not sure what to do for V-day! Perhaps I'll have to look on Pinterest for some inspiration!

A Finished Cozy Project
For this quilt I bought two sets of pre-picked fat quarters. The sets were called "Welcome to Canada" and they feature fabric that is reflects the landscape of Canada. One of the fabric designs has popular tourists spots. It's kind of a neat idea for a quilt. It's heading to Germany to one of our friends. Hopefully she likes it!

Pinterest Recipes

This was one of Jon's favorite meals we tried. We've made it twice and each time was equally good. It tastes really good the next day heated up and made extra. So it was perfect for his work lunch. We switched the white rice for brown and added more veggies than they called for. They suggest onions, peas, and carrots; but we also added celery, corn, and whatever veggies we had on hand. And the sweet and sour chicken turned out really great as well! This recipe is definitely going in our recipe box!

Jon was on Days one week so that means he has to get up super early. We made this recipe the night before and it was ready for him when he woke up the next day. We halved it and it still made a lot! But turned out pretty good.

This Cobb salad turned out pretty good. I think next time we'll try a different dressing. We weren't huge fans of the red wine lemon vinaigrette. It was good, but that night I think we wanted something different.

We also made this version of a Caeser Salad. The dressing isn't the one I normally make for a caeser but it tasted pretty good on it.
That's what we've tried the past week. Overall very happy with them! What recipes have you tried from Pinterest lately?

Shop Love--Lilly Queen
For this feature of Shop Love we're talking with Sara! She's the owner of Lilly Queen Bath & Body etsy shop. Click on the link or the photo below to check out her shop!
Why did you decide to open a shop?
I decided to open up shop because I wanted a way to support my hobby. I don't do this for a full time job or to make a living. It's a form of relaxation for me and in order to keep buying new supplies I need to sell what I make. So I put together an Etsy shop to do just that. Plus its nice to be able to give people something they can enjoy and love. Im a girl and totally addicted to great smelling products, things that make my skin super soft, and being able to relax away the days worries in a tub full of bubbles.
How did you come with your shop name?
Lilly Queen has been a name that has stuck with me for years. I had a pet ferret named Lilly and anytime I used to come home from work Id call out to her and ask where my little Queen was. Well, from then on Lilly Queen was formed.
Your favorite thing to make in your shop?
I love making bath fizzy's! They are so much fun to make and so much fun to use!
Any advice for people thinking of opening one?
Advice on opening a shop? Go for it! You can either take the conservative route and plan everything out, make lists to organize yourself, calculate everything so you know exactly how much to charge (this works well for people who plan on making a living out of their shop). Or you can take the JUMP RIGHT IN attitude and just begin listing items to sell. One big tip is, try to get the best possible photos - people can't touch or hold your item, so you need to really let them see every angle clearly and bright enough.
Anything else you'd like people to know?
Im currently running a sale. Seasonal Item are on sale: http://www.etsy.com/shop/LillyQueenBath?section_id=10904393 (only 2 items left)
All my lotions have free shipping! http://www.etsy.com/shop/LillyQueenBath?section_id=8128466
Spend $10 and get 25% off your order by using the code 25OFF
She has so many wonderful items in her shop! Here's a few of my favorite items
Strawberry and Champagne Bath Fizzy
Caramel Cinnamon Latte Body Balm
Head over and check out the rest of her products! Thank-you Sara for letting us get to know you and your shop!

Dear...
Dear Strawberry Fruit Leather,
You're lucky you are so delicious or you wouldn't be worth the wait. Also I'm going to pretend that you're super healthy and not full of natural sugars. I just wish you stuck around in our house a bit longer.
Sincerely,
Your Biggest Fan
Dear Last Summer's Tan,
I noticed you're starting to fade. I'm very sorry to see that as I feel like I worked really hard to acquire you. If you could stay a bit longer I'd be greatly appreciative.
Sincerely,
Always Pale
Dear Headache,
After months of non-existence, you're back and persistent for the past three days. I haven't missed you.
Sincerely,
Better off without you
Dear Bachelor Producers,
Those chicks be crazy! I know it's all about the ratings and outrageousness but could we maybe try to have some more "normal" people on next season? I promise I'll still watch and unmercifully judge.
Sincerely,
Bachelor Is My Guilty Pleasure
Dear Husband,
Thank-you for the flowers and coffee you picked up on the way home. Your really know the way to my heart!
Love,
Your Wife

Life Lessons From Observations
My favorite interactions to observe were when elderly folks came in. There was a rowdy group of older women who took over the back room every saturday morning. Their favorite person to be waited on was the young hot waiter. I'm pretty sure he didn't mind their tables either.
Then there was the tiny elderly fellow who came in every day at approximately the same time. He was always alone and always dressed in a suit coat and dress pants. He ordered a select few items, never needed a menu, and didn't need to be seated. He picked who he wanted to serve him and sat in their area. He knew the difference between coffee that was made in the restaurant and coffee that was made in the catering section of the hotel; even though they were exactly the same. But demanded they left during the busy lunch rush and head to the catering wing to get his coffee. He seemed grumpy, never saying more words then he needed to and even then sometimes just grunting. And when it was time to pay he always had exact change with a tip left on the table for his waitress. It was easy to pass judgement on him and assume he's some bitter bachelor who never married and hated the world. But over the years the waitresses got his life stories from him and there was more to his hard exterior. He spent his life working really hard in the service industry. That's why he wanted service the way he wanted it. He expected perfection because that's the way he had served people his whole life. One could also assume that he'd be a cheap tipper. But the girls always said he tipped the respected amount. One waitress, a single mother told a story of a time when she had mentioned her car had broke down that morning, that afternoon when he left a tip, he had covered her repair bill.
My favorite regular customers to observe was this adorable older couple. They came for lunch every other Sunday, always dressed really nice. They walked slow and took time getting to their table but were always smiling to everyone and greeted them like old friends. My favorite thing about them that would make me tear up was when she would leave to use the washroom during the meal. She always needed to every time they ate there, sometimes twice a meal. And every time she went to stand up, no matter if he was in the middle of his meal, he would stand up and wait for her to get up and walk away to the restroom. When she was out of his vision he would sit back down. Then the second he would see her walking his way, he'd slowly stand up out of his chair and wait until she had seated before he returned to his chair. They were cute together. They didn't always need to talk but you could tell in their eyes the love was still as strong so many years later.

A New Way To Clean House

Yep, slippers that clean the floor as you walk. If you can't read the little writing on the package it says "Slip 'em on & they'll do the cleaning for you!"
Haha! What will they think of next?! What invention have you found that makes you shake your head?
Baby it's cold outside

It's been getting down to -43 at night and supposed to be like this for rest of the week. Indoors it's nice and toasty! Our wood stove is amazing and far too efficient! The living room and kitchen are so warm I've been wearing shorts and tank top during the day. And after I workout I cool down with a delicious and cold fruit smoothie.
My favorite kind! Orange, banana, strawberry yogurt smoothie!
Hopefully this cold weather doesn't last too much longer! But while it's here I'm thankful for a warm house!

Fill in the Blank Friday
Fill in the blanks time!! Join over on Lauren's blog!
1. The last thing I ate was a mennonite recipe called kielke. It's homemade noodles. I ate mine covered in rhubarb sauce, white gravy, and a sausage. Sounds weird but it's delicious!
2. The last song I listened to was Moves Like Jagger. It was on a blogilates youtube video I was working out to earlier.
3. Using the letters in my name I can spell car, is, as, cars, scar, scars, ass, sir, crass, sac, sacs, arc, arcs, air, airs, sis.
4. If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick blue. It's my go-to color.
5. If you were to look in my bag right now you'd find wallet, lip gloss, hand cream, shop business cards, a pen, a christmas concert stub, spare keys to both cars.
6. When I finish filling in the blanks I'm going to watch Late Night With Jimmy Fallon! So funny!
7. My all time favorite song to dance to is hmm not to be unoriginal, but right now it's Moves Like Jagger! I have the cd in my car and it's the playback on my cell.
Etsy Love List
I am VERY obsessed with stationary. All things stationary to be more exact. Journals, pens, tape, etc. I purchased two notebooks from Katie Blair Designs and absolutely loved them! She has lots of other books and stationary goodies so check out her shop!

I've wanted a cool strap for my camera for a while now and was in love with this one the moment it arrived! It's from a shop called See Spot Sew! She has lots of other camera straps available.
Now seriously, how adorable are these shoes?! And guess what! She makes them in adult sizes! Yep, I got them. They're perfect for walking around in the house. They keep my toes warm! They're from a shop called Sam's Crochet! She makes lots of different crocheted things so check it out!
So you can file this under "Things You Don't Know And Probably Don't Need To Know About Me" But I love buying tea. I have a cupboard full of it. I always find a flavor I want to try! That's why I was excited when I found this sampler package in the teaman's shop. He has over 50 gourmet flavors and you get to chose what kind you want to try in your sampler. So far our favorite has been the strawberry, vanilla chai, and lemon honey.
This photo is from her listing but you might remember seeing this hat in my most recent vlog! I LOVE the color of it and it's so cute! She has hats for babies, children, and adults! So there's something for everyone. Her shop's name is Rosy Toeses Crochet
You might remember this hat before too! This hat is so cozy and perfect for keeping the winter wind off my head! I ordered two from her, one for my friend and one for me and she did an excellent job on both of them! The one for my friend was custom and she was so great to work with and got the color I requested perfect! Salutations Crochet
That was fun! Perhaps I'll do another post soon with some of the other items I've received off etsy! What are some of your favorite shops??
***Disclaimer*** I didn't receive anything for doing these promotions. In fact the shop owners don't even know I'm writing them. I just love their items and wanted to share their shop with you guys!

Vlog Friday
I am SO super awkward in vlogs so sorry about that! I talk super fast and say verbal pauses a lot. Also my cat is crazy right now! So sometimes in the video you might here or see him. The first couple of takes he was even crazier! And why is it that you never look as cute in video as you do in the mirror? Maybe it's just me!
Happy Week-end!!

Tag You're It
Rules:
1. You must post these rules.
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about ‘you are tagged if you are reading this.’ You legitimately have to tag 11 people.
11 Things About Me:
1. I've never travelled internationally. I've driven through the US twice on a road trip from Saskatchewan to Ontario but we never stopped to see anything. So it hardly counts. I plan to rectify that soon.
2. I've been thinking of getting a watch lately. My last one broke six years ago during a game of duck, duck, goose. 4 and 5 year olds are intense.
3. I enjoy singing even if it sounds really bad and scares the pets.
4. I almost always sleep wedged between two pillows. One under my head and one on top.
5. I loving cooking and sewing but I hate following recipes and patterns. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. I blame my lack of patience.
6. I obsessed with Doodle Jump right now. My brother posted a high score in the 100,000's so now I'm determined to beat it. My highest is only in the 84, 000's.
7. I love cereal! I could eat it for every meal. But only like 4 kinds.
8. I have SO much yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks but I can't seem to get the hang of it to make anything other than scarves.
9. On that topic, I have over 30 scarves. I have to stop myself from buying more. I'm a little obsessed.
10. I over use "!"s ALL! the! time!!!! I've analyzed people's meaning in their messages by lack of "!". I'm working on using "."s more. . .
11. I had such a hard time coming up with 11 things about me. Nothing seemed interesting.
Questions from Amy:
1. What is your favourite vacation activity? My favorite thing to do on vacation is to head out and explore an area with no agenda. I might have a map and a gps for geocaching. But other than that I enjoy just discovering somewhere.
2. Do you sleep on a specific side of the bed? What position sleeper are you (i.e., side, fetal, stomach, back)? We sometimes switch sides of the bed when we rearrange our bedroom. I have "interesting" sleeping habits sometimes so occasionally it means we switch sides. I sleep curled up and on my side. Every few years I switch my sleeping position.
3. If you had to be locked in one room with someone for 24 hours, who would it be and why? You cannot choose your spouse/significant other or child (just trying to make the answers interesting). I would choose my friend Lindsay! She lives in Ontario so I hardly ever get to see her! 24 hours of uninterrupted visit would be amazing!
4. What's your can't live without cosmetic? I love mascara! If I don't have time to apply all my makeup I make sure the mascara goes on.
5. If given $100 to spend on yourself, what would you spend it on? Hmm... well I always have a list of books I want to get. But it'd probably go towards something fun like clothes, nail polish, make-up? Can a girl ever have enough of those?
6. Are you a mac or PC? Mac.
7. In the event of a zombie apocalypse where you want to be? Well I haven't spent too much time thinking about this but I would probably not want to be somewhere that is heavy populated. So I'd either want to be in some far out there-- impossible to get to-- place. Or on a launch pad ready to head to space and away from all the zombies.
8. What television show would you recommend to others as a must-watch? Old show... The Golden Girls. New show... Hart of Dixie. I'm loving that show this year!
9. Are you a morning or night person? I am a huge night person. I'm not a morning person. at. all.
10. Is there something you're saving up for right now? Yes! My fore-mentioned friend is getting married in April! So I have been saving for the trip!
11. What was your favourite moment of 2011? f
My Tags:
You guys don't have to do this! But you can if you want! Stephanie, Bibi, Christianna, Kathy, Kelly Michelle, Betty, Jenn, and Paula.
That's not 11 people but I tagged people I thought might want to do it. :)
Questions for my Tags:
1. What's one of your favorite quote or words to live by?
2. What's your must-watch movie, new or old?
3. What qualities/characteristics makes a great friend?
4. What's the best or worst date you've ever been on?
5. If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go and who would you take?
6. If there was a soundtrack to your life what would be your theme song?
7. Flash Back to the 90's... what boy band are you listening to?
8. Best book you've ever read?
9. Favorite healthy snack?
10. Mountains or the beach?
11. What's the best compliment you've ever received?
