windy mountain roads

and tunnels through some of the mountains

We stopped and hiked down to Hell's Gate. Jon did the airtram on the way home because I was too scared... but I'l post those pictures in part two.
This bridge rocked and shook when people walked on it. I tried not to look through the grates at the rushing water!
When we got to Vancouver we were SO tired so we quickly showered and walked next door. Then we were lame and went to bed at 8:00pm and woke up at 7:00am.
We spent most of our first whole day at Stanley Park. There was lots of beautiful flowers and huge trees
Jon loves huge trees so I *had* to take a bunch of pictures of him next to various trees. I'll save you from looking at a lot of them and just post one.
Lord Stanley has the right idea!!!
We enjoyed walking along the seawall with the great view. All the people running made me feel like I should be too. All the couples on tandem bikes made Jon feel like we should rent one .But after watching one girl almost fall off the bike and pee herself laughing so hard we decided to save the embarrassment for some other time.
Months ago I signed up for a Groupon account. I was disappointed to find they didn't have a nearby area from where we lived. So since then I've been receiving daily emails about their Vancouver deals. That morning before we left the hotel I was checking my email and one caught my eye. We quickly purchased it and headed to that area in Stanley park when we first got there.
It was for 50% a tour around the harbor on this boat!
I'd never been on a boat with a paddle wheel before. So it was fun!

Us and my windblown hair. It was pretty cold out there but we wanted to sit outside for the tour.

we didn't realize how patriotic this picture looked with the flag and everything until we were looking at it back at the hotel. Feels like there should be the national anthem playing or something!
Then we headed to the Vancouver Aquarium another thing that was on Jon's must see list

Then we watched the waves for a bit

and looked for treasure
stay tuned for the *thrilling* conclusion in part two!

Looks like you had a GREAT time. I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessed with taking jellyfish pictures! Haha. I did start humming "O, Canada" when I saw that one picture. I've never been on a paddleboat either; looks like fun. So glad you got to have your vacation!
ReplyDeleteWow, that really IS a massive tree! Looks like you had a great trip - the photos of the jellyfish are so cool! :)
ReplyDeletehahaha I love the photo of you as a fish!
ReplyDeleteWow that looks so beautiful. Outdoorsy heaven! Must add it to my list of places to go.
ReplyDeletewould you believe that was one of the "smaller" ones!? There was no way I could get the whole tree in the frame and still be able to recognize that it was Jon in the picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada! there was SO many people at the jellyfish area! I had to wait my turn to take pictures! Lots of people were taking video of them too. You should go on a paddleboat one day! they're really interesting. Made me want to visit the mississippi river and take one down it. That and later in the evening Discovery or History channel was playing a special on paddleboats on the Miss. river.
ReplyDeletedefinitely! since we got back, I feel like I've spent WAY too much time inside!
ReplyDeletehehehe thanks! I thought about not putting it up. But hey! Just keepin it real!
ReplyDeleteMy home!! You were in my home!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you loved it as much as I do! You'll need approximately eleventy billion more trips to see everything it has to love, but your first trip was a good start!
haha! I know! I feel like we hardly saw anything yet we were SO busy the whole time! We will definitely need to take a few trips! I thought you were from somewhere else for some reason!

There is an app for geocaching that you can download them onto. Then you head out and follow the GPS to find the hidden containers! We LOVE geocaching! It’s been a great way to discover interesting spots that we never would have found otherwise! Last year we went on a road trip and geocached our way down and all around Vancouver. [...]
