Latest Obsession: Fitness Edition

Guys I'm obsessed! Between Pinterest and my recent discovery of My Fitness Pal I'm trying to educate myself on all things healthy living. I've got healthy snacks and workouts pinned. And then I track them on MFP! I should have started keeping track ages ago! I soon found that I almost never reach the recommended calorie intake each day! So I've been working on changing that. I also think it's encouraging and motivating when I see how much exercise I log. I want to accumulate more and more workout time! Right now I have weekly and monthly workout time/calories burned goals. Hoping to increase both as the month goes on. I still have a long ways to go but seeing the inches decrease is encouraging and exciting!

Another thing that helps motivate me is Jon getting interested in it. His support in emails and texts asking me how I workout went are great. He always says he's really proud of how hard I'm working out. And it's nice to hear that sometimes! He's also gotten a lot more into healthy eating with me! It used to be the veggies and fruit were pretty much for me. But now I go to the fridge and find some of them missing! He went grocery shopping yesterday and now our house looks like a fruit market! I love it! We've recently been given a dehydrator so I've been using it a lot! But I'll post about that next week.

I still have a long way to go but I'm feeling good about the changes and choices I've been making. I'm not crash dieting and losing it all really quickly but rather making changes in my lifestyle that will be long term. Some days I get a little discouraged. I just want to get there now! But when I think about the progress I've made so far, it's the needed push to finish the day's workouts strong!

Have you made any goals to get healthier? How are they working out for you? Any tips?

  1. Interesting Carissa! new habits for a healthy lifestyle, this is great!
Just a tip, don't go too fast or you will be discouraged many times, but set up one or two new habits per week for example and you will see the difference.
    All the best!

  2. I had an epiphany of sorts yesterday that I'm really healthy. Yes, I still have weight to lose and should probably drink a lot more water... but I just don't eat that poorly. The worst food I really eat is Subway and popcorn...which isn't that bad. Last night after the gym I was pretty hungry and I haven't had the chance to go grocery shopping yet, so I went into the freezer and made some chicken fingers that have been in there since the summer...and honestly I feel like I'm going to die today. It's worse than a hangover.

Clean eating is the only way to go... you just feel so much better. It only takes one screw up to make you realize that.

  6. I had a very similar epiphany. I have the lifestyle choices in place it's just a matter of time now! I think that's the hardest part. I totally agree! I used to drink pepsi/coke a lot like every day? And had my first one in 6 months. I felt so sick and gross! My stomach said get this crap out of me! It was nice to know my body is now used to the difference between healthy and unhealthy food!

  7. Great tip! I have the tendency to try to get there too fast but small goals are definitely helping it seem more attainable! Thanks!
