I am SO socially awkward! I never thought I was that bad but thinking back I think I probably always have been.
Like in kindergarten when I walked up to someone and asked if they wanted to be friends and they said no.
Or in grade 11 when one of my guy friends was talking to me about something completely different while holding a stack of photos and I blurt out "no I haven't seen your photos yet" He was so confused.
Or the time I wasn't a fan of wrong numbers.
Or earlier this morning when the contractor was at the door introducing himself. I got his name from my dad and recommended him to the landlords. I forgot to mention to them what my dad's name is and the contractor was asking about it. So when I introduced myself I was going to say I was Carissa... {insert dad's name}'s daugther. Instead I introduced myself "I'm Carissa {insert maiden name}. No wait. {insert actual last name}. I got married." He says "oh that's great" I say "No! Not recently like years ago. I just moved back." (inside I'm cringing and imagining myself running back inside closing the door and drawing all the blinds). He didn't seem to notice my awkwardness and continued talking. Which I continued to mis-hear and make a mess of myself.
Gah! I hate when I get nervous meeting people and blurt out awkwardness! Maybe one day I'll get over that! Are you awkward or eloquent?
I'm awkward too! Own it! People thing it's cute and funny! I mean take Jess on "New Girl", she's totally awkward but totally lovable!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely one of the awkward ones as well.
ReplyDeleteI am totally socially awkward too! I get what I call vomit mouth when I get into socially awkward situations. I start talking and talking...and usually say something I shouldn't. Luckily I have friends who understand that...
ReplyDeleteYou can count me in the socially awkward bunch. :) I am definitely not good at meeting new people. I get so tongue-tied. I remember introducing my Mom by her maiden name once, and I have no idea why I did that. lol
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you... I'm so awkward and shy :( There used to be a time when I'd hide in my room and was really quiet for fear people could hear me outside and talk to me... looking back I cringe it's so embarrassing. I have gotten better thanks to my husband and our friends. But there are days when it's just so easy to fall back into that old habit... *hugs* we still love you :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm not the only one! ;)
ReplyDeletehahaha It's so weird when that happens!
ReplyDeletehaha I've done that!
ReplyDeleteAww! I used to have a friend who's mom intimidated me SO much that every time she came into the store I worked I would get so nervous! And to make matters worse she would always go through my till and I would shake so bad! I dropped her change once all over the counter! Ahh! cringe! Thanks! Right back at ya! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteI sooo wish I didn't have this problem... but I totally do. I feel like a crazy loon when I talk to people that I don't know very well! Maybe we should all start a club... "Social Awkward People Anonymous." SAPA. Which will be fantastic because since we'll all be anonymous, we won't know who is who and we can feel less dumb! .... ..... ........ or.... something....
ReplyDelete:)
Oooo SAPA! I'm totally in! I love it!
