In A Good Way

As I was sitting here tonight thinking about something write I decided to think of a word to describe my thoughts the past couple weeks. One word came to mind instantly. melancholy.

Not in the emo, listen to sad songs, eat lots of ice cream kind of way. Just in a lost in thinking kind of way.

Jon's been noticing I've been a lot quieter lately. He keeps questioning me about it, concerned. But it's nothing to worry about. Autumn has always made me really pensive. It's such a season of change. Changing environment (colors, temperatures, daylight); changing schools, jobs, houses; changing hair color, type of clothes, foods you eat.

For me it makes me reminisce a lot of years past. I've moved, started new schools/jobs, parents got divorced, and my birthday has all happened in autumns before. Don't get me wrong, I love fall! It just makes me think. And there's nothing wrong with that.

How about you? Does fall make you melancholy? Or is there another season that important things seem to happen for you?

  1. I totally am feeling you on this one... people have definitely noticed it too. I find myself trying a bit harder to be more bubbly and happy. I miss summer and fear the impending winter. Something about it getting dark at 4pm and having nobody to come home to is incredibly depressing.

Although... I know it won't last long and the point is to just push through and find all the things to be happy about and grateful for... especially at Thanksgiving!!

    Happy Thanksgiving :)

  2. I love Autumn! I love seeing the leaves change colors. I love pumpkins and scarecrows and Halloween. :) The weather is Tennessee is perfect in the Autumn months, not too hot, not too cold. :) But I hate the shorter days. That kind of depresses me, because that means that Winter is close and I hate Winter and the cold. I'm one of those people that gets the Winter blues. It is really hard for me to not be moody in the Winter. But come Spring life is good again! :)

  3. I totally agree. I think it has something to do with less and less light each day. I'm thinking once it snows and the moon reflects on it perhaps it won't feel so much like night ALL evening! I've been trying to do the same... focus harder on seeing the happy and positive things in life. :)
