Postcards!

About two weeks ago I heard about this neat website called Postcrossing The idea behind the website is you sign up an account and request an address for someone random. They give you an address and you send that person a postcard from your country or area you live. Once they receive it they go on the website and enter in the ID number that is specific to that postcard and then your address gets entered into the system and someone random sends you a postcard. You only get as many cards as you send. And when you stop sending them, you stop receiving them. Plain and simple like that. I thought it sounded really fun and interesting so I signed up and requested my allotted 5 addresses at one time and in the mail they went!

I woke up this morning to an email from one recipient! She had gotten the postcard! We sent them on Monday and it arrived in The Netherlands already!! She said she really liked the postcard and then responded to some of the things we wrote about on it. But it's so fun! We can't wait to receive one now from someone! It's sort of a reminder that we might be one person in a world full of about 6,903,700,000. Yet you can have a short connection with someone random on the other side of the country and wish them a good day. I don't know. I remember reading in my Philosophy class that it's really important to be engaged with the world you live in. Either in your community or expanded to your country, etc. Anyways, time to step off my apple box... She uploaded a picture onto the website, of the postcard we sent her. It was one of our favorites so I'm glad it didn't get lost in the mail and made it there in 5 days!
