I've been thinking a lot the past couple weeks about how much I'd enjoy creating at a more consistent basis. The past couple months I've been able to and it's been really satisfying. Which led me to think should I open an Etsy shop? I'd sell photographs and things I've sewed, crocheted, or knitted. I've been working on building up a stock and feel pretty good about it.
I'd love to see if any one was interested in what I create. And nothing ventured nothing gained? Here's where that darn being brave thing comes in. It's much easier to not try new things and stay where it's "safe".
But what do you think? Do you or have you had an Etsy shop? What do I need to know before signing up? Any tips or helpful advice?
i LOVE Etsy so i'm a little biased when i tell you to open up a shop. haha. but seriously, it takes work to set it up initially so if you have the time & dedication then i say go for it! i've had a shop for 2 years & i've gotten a good amount of sales/connections from it with almost no advertising of it at all.
ReplyDeletedefinitely, definitely take great photos of your stuff. that helps a whole bunch. add interesting descriptions & use a lot of tags. also, good idea to have a stock first before setting up a shop!
Thank-you so much Amie for your advice! It helps a lot! I'm super nervous about opening a shop so it's great to hear from someone who's had one for a while! I've been working on stock for a month now and hoping to have enough to open in the next month. Thanks so again!
