Northern Lights and Starry Nights

One thing I love about living where we do is watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky. The other night when we let the dogs out for one last time before bed we noticed the lights were out. So we grabbed our coats and the camera, and went out to watch them.

The last time I took photos of the Northern Lights I used my regular lens but this time I wanted to try my wide angle. It shoots better in lower light so I was curious how it would make a difference or if it would for shooting at night.

It was pitch black out but it makes it look like it's lighter out there than it was!

I imagine if I used a tripod they would be a lot clearer. But I made a makeshift one out of board games and dvds!

So many stars out!

We must have caught the tail end of it because they didn't last too long. But it was enjoyable to watch!

  2. Beautiful! I have caught the northern lights in years. I need to get better at getting out to see them, but I tend to opt for my nice warm bed instead!!
