The Eagle That Was

For a while now the eagles have been playing tricks on me. They often fly around dipping and soaring or sitting on the trees right by our house yet I can never seem to get a photo of them. I run in and grab the camera only to come out and find them gone. It seems not long after I put the camera back or have gone inside, they come back. Sometimes I think they're watching for fish in the lake or perhaps the many rabbits that hop around here. But other times they're pretty focused on our little dog Butch. Today I looked out and saw one sitting on a nearby tree watching the lake. So I quickly grabbed my camera and headed out. The closer I got the more nervous it seemed and almost ready to fly away so I didn't take the time to change the camera settings so the photos are the best.

And just like that he had had enough. Off he flew.
